Rita aos 59 anos é analfabeta. Após perder sua filha e genro num trágico acidente de carro, ela e seu esposo Sebastião criam o neto Miguel. Rita vai à escola na terceira idade e enquanto aprende a ler, vivencia na imaginação o livreto de literatura de cordel “A Pedra do Meio-Dia”. Os personagens vão ganhar vida na sua imaginação e vão conectar-se com sua história, onde a derrota de um gigante do reino mágico é metáfora à superação do analfabetismo.
Rita a sus 59 años es analfabeta. Después de perder a su hija y yerno en un trágico accidente automovilístico, ella y su esposo Sebastião crían a su nieto Miguel. Rita va a la escuela y mientras aprende a leer, experimenta en su imaginación el cuadernillo de literatura cordel “A Pedra do Meio-Dia”. Los personajes cobrarán vida en su imaginación y conectarán con su historia, donde la derrota de un gigante del reino mágico es una metáfora de la superación del analfabetismo.
Rita at 59 is illiterate. After losing her daughter and son-in-law in a tragic car accident, she and her husband Sebastião raise their grandson Miguel. Rita goes to school in her senior years and while she learns to read, she experiences in her imagination the literature booklet “A Pedra do Meio-Dia”. The characters will come to life in her imagination and will connect with her story, where the defeat of a giant from the magical kingdom is a metaphor for overcoming illiteracy.
